IAC Will Conduct an Internal Investigation Due to Publications about the Death of SSJ100
“The statements of individual employees are neither the information not the position of the IAC. Considering the sharp reaction from Aeroflot Airlines, an official investigation will be conducted in the IAC regarding published materials”, follows from the statement. As part of the investigation, the IAC asks the media to send audio and video confirmations of Kofman’s published statements. The committee stressed that he isn't a member of the technical commission that investigates the disaster.
Aeroflot passenger aircraft SSJ100, which made the flight Moscow-Murmansk on May 5, some time after takeoff, requested an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo. During the landing, the liner hit the runway badly and caught fire. At that moment, 78 people were on board, including the crew members. The victims of the disaster were 40 passengers and one flight attendant.
Currently, an investigation into the causes of the disaster is underway, the Commission and the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis of the Safety of Civil Aviation of France, which acts as a technical consultant, is developing the engine for SSJ100. According to sources of the Russian media, investigators found out that the crew of the aircraft made a number of mistakes during the flight, in particular, didn't turn off the engines after landing. At the same time, a window was opened in the cabin - this could indirectly affect the spread of fire.
