OREANDA-NEWS   Sakhalin customs officers in 2022 issued 3,741 cars in the port of Korsakov (south of Sakhalin) - 2.5 times more than a year earlier. This was reported to journalists in the press service of the Sakhalin customs.

"The import of foreign cars to Sakhalin increased 2.5 times compared to 2021. A sharp increase occurred in the summer of 2022, when 400-500 cars were imported to Sakhalin every month, although usually about 200 were delivered. This is due to changes in the exchange rate," the customs said.

In addition, in December 2022, the first batch of cars was imported to the port of Kholmsk (south of Sakhalin). The additional line was resumed for the first time after 10 years. Several cars were imported from Japan and to the seaport of Yuzhno-Kurilsk (Kunashir Island, Sakhalin Region). The last direct deliveries there were more than 20 years ago.

All cars imported in 2022 are passenger cars. They were purchased by individuals, paying 1.4 billion rubles of customs duties and taxes.
