OREANDA-NEWS  In January-March 2023, Russian enterprises, according to preliminary data, reduced the production of freight cars by 15.7% year-on-year, to 13,065 units. This was reported by NP "Association of Manufacturers of Railway Equipment" (OPZHT).

Among them, 3,573 gondola cars were produced (a decrease of 1.9 times by January-March 2022), 2,759 platforms (a decrease of 1.9 times), 3,98 thousand hoppers (an increase of 2 times), 1,888 tank cars (an increase of 1.8 times), 782 covered wagons (an increase of 6 times) and 83 dump trucks (-7.8%).

The volume of freight car repairs (depot and capital) decreased by 13.7% during the reporting period, to 105,218 units.

The market of solid-rolled wheels for freight cars, according to the OPZHT, decreased by 16% in the three months of 2023 and amounted to 374,291 units, including wheels of domestic production - 333,654 (-9.6%). The production of side frames decreased by 16%, to 67,776, and overhead beams - by 16.1%, to 33,834.

The market of conical double-row bearings grew in January-March of this year by 2 times, amounting to 161,235 thousand, including bearings of domestic production - 63,043 pieces (-20.9%).

In January-March 2023, Russia produced: 147 passenger railway cars (an increase of 2.5 times), 84 units of motor-car rolling stock (a drop of 1.6 times), as well as 32 track cars (a drop of 1.7 times) and not a single rail bus car.

The production volume of diesel locomotives increased by 3.3% over the past three months, amounting to 156 sections, the output of electric locomotives remained at the level of last year - 168 sections.

According to OPZHT, the production of railway rails in the country in the first quarter decreased by 7%, to 222.4 thousand tons, 7.6 thousand units of switch products (+8.2%), 20.9 thousand tons of metal elements of rail fasteners (-4.9%) and 8.2 million rail fasteners (-10.5%) were also produced.
