OREANDA-NEWS  The share of Chinese brands in the Russian market of new passenger cars in October fell below 50% for the first time since July 2023, with a total of 82.2 thousand such cars sold in October, the analytical agency Autostat reported.

"By the end of October 2025, 82.2 thousand new Chinese-made passenger cars were sold in Russia. This represents 49.6% of the total market volume. Experts from the Autostat agency note that the share of "Chinese" has dropped below 50% for the first time in more than two years," the report says.

It is specified that for the first time the share of new Chinese cars in the passenger car market of the Russian Federation overcame this milestone in July 2023, amounting to 51.8%, and in subsequent months was in the range of 51-61%, and in September 2024 reached its peak of 61.9%.

"The decline in the share of "Chinese" in the Russian market is largely due to their "replacement" by cars of local brands. As noted by the director of the agency "Autostat" Sergey Tselikov, in Belarus and Russia, for example, Belgee (Geely), Tenet or Xcite (Chery) models are assembled under local brands," the agency noted.

Experts recalled that by the end of October, two Chinese brands entered the top 5 brands of the Russian new car market - Haval (second in the ranking) and Geely (third), while the fourth and fifth lines are occupied by the Belarusian brand Belgee and the Russian Tenet, respectively.
