OREANDA-NEWS  Recently, dealers and distributors in Russia have begun to cancel discounts on NEV cars (powered by new energy sources), that is, on hybrids and electric cars. Kommersant writes about this with reference to market participants.

Olga Petrova, Avilon's Deputy General Director for New Car Sales, said that back in the spring, brands tried to stimulate demand, but after the problems with gasoline and diesel fuel began, the need for such measures disappears.

According to her, the views of the relevant models on the Avilon website have increased more than fivefold, and the number of requests has increased by 30-40 percent.

Denis Migal, founder of the Fresh automotive marketplace, clarified that hybrids felt confident even before the events on the fuel market, but there is a clear revival in electric vehicles. All their problems — a small number of charges on the highways and high energy consumption in winter — have become less significant in the absence of gasoline.

According to Autostat, sales of NEV cars in the period from June 29 to July 19 increased 1.8 times compared to the average in the first half of the year. The leaders in the segment of electric vehicles are Evolute, UMO, Avatr, Geely and Zeekr, and in the segment of hybrids — Voyah, Geely, Evolve, GAC and Lixiang.

Evolute pointed out that due to the sharp increase in demand for individual car models, a queue even formed. Daniil Shkurygin, Commercial Director of <url>, confirmed that the shortage of models of this particular brand is particularly noticeable.

Earlier, the Petromarket research group reported that due to problems with gasoline and diesel fuel, demand for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased sharply in the summer of 2026.
