OREANDA-NEWS. Russian insurance companies within the framework of hull insurance contracts began to repair damaged car parts, instead of replacing them with new ones. This was reported to Gazeta.Ru in Ingosstrakh and RESO-Garantia.

“Repair of damaged body parts with an appropriate warranty was available to dealer centers before, but in some cases there was no economic feasibility of such repairs,” Vitaly Knyaginichev, head of the retail business directorate of Ingosstrakh, told Gazeta.Ru.

Clients who do not agree to straightening will be offered to wait for the supply of spare parts or take monetary compensation. Such an approach can drastically reduce the relevance of hull insurance as a means of protecting a car from an accident. Support for a similar decision in an interview with Gazeta.Ru was announced by the deputy general director of RESO-Garantia Igor Ivanov.

Serhiy Radko, a lawyer for the Freedom of Choice automobile movement, believes that repair methods are determined during the damage assessment by the insurer or an appraisal company authorized by it, while the car owner has the right to challenge the quality of the work performed.
