OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Rostec Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, discussed the new Lada Azimut crossover, a product of AvtoVAZ.

The President held a meeting with the head of Rostec in the Kremlin on Thursday.

"Our AvtoVAZ has introduced a very good new product, the Azimut crossover," Chemezov said during his report.

"Lada?" the President asked, and received a positive response.

The Rostec head added that AvtoVAZ is ready to produce up to 70 thousand such cars per year. In addition, according to Chemezov, the Lada Azimut will change the attitude of Russians towards the domestic automotive industry in a positive way.

The Lada Azimut is a new crossover from AvtoVAZ, which the company first presented at SPIEF 2025. It is based on the Vesta platform and will be equipped with upgraded 1.6- and 1.8-liter engines with a capacity of 120 and 132 horsepower, respectively. In early April, AvtoVAZ announced that the model's mass production is scheduled to begin in September.
