OREANDA-NEWS Russian Railways is ready to develop the transportation of Russian grain to Iran via the North-South International Transport Corridor (MTK), said Oleg Belozerov, the company's CEO.

The heads of the railways of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran discussed the development of the MTK North-South western route, Russian Railways reported. Russian Railways CEO Oleg Belozerov held talks in Moscow with Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov and Head of Iranian Railways Jabbarali Zakeri.

"We are ready to develop the transportation of Russian grain to Iran. The dynamics of transportation in January-June is positive. 65,000 tons of grain were transported to Iran via Astara, which is more than 4 times higher than in the same period last year," Russian Railways quoted Belozerov as saying.
