OREANDA-NEWS Since the beginning of the year, sales of electric vehicles in Russia have immediately collapsed by 63 percent due to a sharp increase in the recycling fee. This was stated by Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency Autostat, Kommersant writes.

According to him, in absolute terms, we are talking about 1.3 thousand electric vehicles. Sales of such models by the end of 2023 amounted to 14.1 thousand, and in 2024 — 17.8 thousand, so earlier we were talking about impressive growth.

Along with electric vehicles, sales of hybrids are also falling, although the result there is one and a half times better — minus 40 percent (3.9 thousand cars).

Since January 1, the recycling fee for new electric vehicles and hybrids has increased from 32.6 thousand rubles to 667.4 thousand, and for used ones older than three years — from 122 thousand to 1.17 million rubles. At the beginning of 2025, according to the agency, the Russian fleet of cars and hybrids amounted to about 115 thousand units, of which about a third are located in the Moscow region.

Earlier it was reported that against the background of the political activity of the head of the American electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, sales of the company's models in Europe are sharply declining. In general, sales of electric vehicles in the European Union are growing, but now at the expense of other brands.
