Sales of new passenger cars in Russia increased 2.6 times in May

OREANDA-NEWS Sales of new passenger cars in Russia in May increased 2.6 times compared to the same period last year, the analytical agency "Autostat" reported with reference to the statistics of JSC "Passport Industrial Consulting", prepared on the basis of data from the electronic vehicle passports system.
During the month, 72,171 cars were sold in the country.
"Fifty—one percent of the cars sold in the last spring month account for three brands," the agency noted. Lada remains the market leader, with a share of more than 30 percent (a year ago it was about 25 percent). 22,029 new passenger cars of the brand were sold in Russia. The second place and leadership among foreign cars was retained by the Chinese brand Chery (7,444 pieces). Haval is in the third position with 7,432 cars sold. Geely (6,690 units) and Kia (3,090 units) also entered the top 5.
Lada Granta remains the most popular model: 15,791 cars were sold in April, six times higher than last April. Haval Jolion is in second place — 3,864 cars (6.5 times growth). Geely Coolray closes the top three — 3,536 cars (an increase of 8 times). Next in the rating Lada Niva Travel — 3 210 units (growth of 3.9 times) and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro — 3 114 cars.
