Sales of used cars in Russia have fallen

OREANDA-NEWS In July, sales of used cars in Russia fell by 3.3 percent. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to the calculations of the Autostat agency.
During the month, sales of used cars dropped to 548.7 thousand units. The decline in this market was recorded for the first time since June 2025.
The reasons for the trend are the withdrawal of the most liquid offers and the effect of a high base, which provided increased demand in July last year. At the same time, sellers believe that the situation will remain stable, given the rising prices for new cars.
Lada remained the most popular cars — brand sales in July decreased by 12.3 percent year-on-year, to 122.1 thousand units. Toyota cars took the second place, sales of which increased by 3.4 percent to 60.4 thousand units. The top three also included Kia, whose sales fell by 8.4 percent to 30.3 thousand units. Hyundai and Volkswagen are also in the top 5 with results of minus 8.3 percent (29.1 thousand units) and plus 12.1 percent (26.5 thousand units).
Earlier, Gazprombank Autoleasing noted an increase in sales of used Chinese cars, which for the first time entered the top 5 in terms of sales in the Russian secondary market. During the month, 580,000 used passenger cars were sold, which is nine percent more than last month, but three percent less than the results of July 2025.
