OREANDA-NEWS In October, sales of used cars in Russia amounted to 512 thousand, which is only 0.5 percent more than in September. Thus, the market could not return to the level of summer sales. Kommersant writes about this with reference to the data of Autostat.

In September, sales fell by 7.6 percent, which was attributed to an increase in the key rate and, as a result, a rise in the price of loans. However, market participants continue to expect growth in November, despite another tightening of monetary policy.

The director of Rolf North-West and Rolf Dmitrovka, Alexander Istomin, believes that sales will begin to increase from mid-November, unless any force majeure happens. In his opinion, people are already used to the new exchange rates and do not expect new adjustments.

At the same time, Vladimir Zholobov, Sales director of used cars of Avtodoma and Avtospeccenter, pointed out that demand was increasing before the rate increase in October, but now the situation has become difficult. Car dealers are lowering prices to increase demand, but potential customers react to promotions much worse than in May or June.

At the same time, prices for used cars stabilized in October. According to Autostat, they reached 1.52 million rubles, which is 15.4 percent more than at the beginning of the year.

Earlier, the Baza publication said that the Russians began recording video messages to the government and the president with a request to postpone or cancel the increase in the recycling fee for cars imported from abroad due to the fact that their prices may increase several times.
