OREANDA-NEWS  During the performance of tasks in the Asia-Pacific region, the corvette of the Pacific Fleet "Gromkiy" ensured the safe passage through the Straits of Malacca and Singapore of the newest icebreaker "Evpatiy Kolovrat".

The icebreaker, built for the Pacific Fleet in St. Petersburg, makes a sea crossing to the future permanent base in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The route runs through the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Ilya Kolesnikov, head of the Information support Department of the VVO press service for the Pacific Fleet, told RG that the personnel of the Gromky corvette guided the icebreaker through the Straits of Malacca and Singapore with heavy ship traffic, ensuring safe overcoming of bottlenecks.

Upon arrival in Kamchatka, the Yevpatiy Kolovrat will be commissioned into the ship's composition of the Pacific Fleet and will begin serving in the area of responsibility in the north-east of Russia.

The corvette "Gromkiy" performs tasks in the Asia-Pacific region in accordance with the approved plan of the Pacific Fleet. On the eve of the icebreaker meeting, the crew conducted exercises to repel the attack of naval saboteurs. During the training, freelance posts were set up on the upper decks to counter the conditional enemy.

The corvette "Perfect" and the medium sea tanker "Pechenga" also participate in the long-distance sea voyage.
