OREANDA-NEWS   Lufthansa decided to save money on washing toilets and taking out trash. This is reported by Spiegel.

It is specified that the European carrier has launched an experiment to reduce cleaning on short routes, which will last until March 29. Now toilets will be cleaned only at the request of passengers, and garbage will be removed from seat pockets "as needed", and not after each flight. The number of employees cleaning the salons will be reduced from four to two.

Representatives of the airline explained that this decision was made as part of a cost-cutting program. The carrier had to implement other cost-saving measures. Thus, economy class passengers are no longer offered free seat reservations depending on the fare, and on board they are given only a miniature bottle of water and a piece of chocolate. In addition, anyone who tries to board, even with oversized luggage, will be charged.

At the same time, Lufthansa short-haul tickets are several times more expensive than competitors such as Ryanair or Easyjet, the publication notes.

Earlier, Lufthansa was included in the list of airlines in the world offering "incredible amenities" on board. In the first place in the rating was the carrier Emirates.
