OREANDA-NEWS The high-speed railway line (HSR) from Russia to China is unlikely to be launched. This is how Russian Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin predicted the likelihood of a new convenient way to get to a neighboring country, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the head of the department, the HSR works effectively at distances up to 1,000 kilometers — that is, where it can be reached by train faster than by plane.
"But besides the HSR, we have a lot of points on the map where you can make high-speed traffic within the existing route. It will be possible to simply modernize and speed up train traffic on these sections," Nikitin added.
By 2045, Russia is planning to build five high-speed rail systems with a total length of 4,500 kilometers. The country's first HSR will run from Moscow to St. Petersburg. In the future, the same high-speed trains will be launched from Moscow to Yekaterinburg (via Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan), to Minsk, Adler and Ryazan.
