OREANDA-NEWS   The beginning of March indicates that the market for new passenger cars will fall by 45-50 percent compared to last year. This was stated by Roman Slutsky, CEO of Alarm-Motors Group. He was quoted by the Autostat agency.

According to him, the expected sales level will be 80 thousand cars. Slutsky stressed that the market shows no signs of even the most modest optimism. The reason is the level of the Bank of Russia's key rate. The expert is convinced that the entire industry and related segments will remain in the red and in decline, and the market will revive only in a situation of a serious reduction in the "key". However, this will not happen in the next three to four months.

Nikolai Ivanov, Director of the New Car Department at ROLF, shared a similar assessment. He thinks that March started very badly. He is confident that the car market will show 95-100 thousand cars at best.

In the first two months of 2025, sales of electric vehicles in Russia fell by 63 percent. The situation was explained by exhausted demand, as well as the fact that electric cars do not take root well in Russia as a mass phenomenon.

In general, the Russian car market showed negative dynamics for the first time since the middle of spring last year.
