OREANDA-NEWS Chinese manufacturers will occupy 60% of the Russian automotive market by the end of the year, Tatiana Grigorieva, General director of the international consulting company Avtoboss, told RIA Novosti.

"Yes, the only foreign companies left in Russia today are the Chinese - Geely, Haval, JAC, which replaced Renault, and Chery, which seems to be the main brand of the year," she said.

"Although until recently there were very few "Chinese" in our car market, by the end of the year, I think they will occupy 60% of it," the expert added, noting that now the indicator is at about 40%. The rest, according to her, are used cars and what is being imported now through parallel imports. "According to some reports, 770 thousand cars will be sold in Russia in 2023 – slightly more than in the past. But, in my opinion, this figure is too exaggerated," Grigorieva concluded.

Sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Russia in 2022 decreased by 58.8% compared to 2021 and amounted to 687 thousand units, the Association of European Businesses reported earlier.
