OREANDA-NEWS  According to Mironov, the "people's car" should cost about 500 thousand rubles, and such a cost can be achieved only thanks to state support. The car must be equipped with a 1.5 liter gasoline engine (100-120 hp), a manual transmission and two airbags. It must have increased ground clearance, air conditioning, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and stability control system (ESC), as well as the ERA-GLONASS system.

As Mironov pointed out, sales of new cars are increasing, but their prices are not decreasing, and in the future they can only grow. If the problem of the shortage of cars does not disappear, the available models are unlikely to return to the market, he believes.

"This means that the problem of aging of the fleet, which is already beginning to affect the accident rate, will continue to increase exponentially. There is only one way out – our country needs a "people's car" that meets modern basic requirements for safety and comfort," the party's press service quotes him as saying.

Now the most affordable car from AvtoVAZ, the Lada Granta sedan, costs 692 thousand rubles in the basic configuration.
