OREANDA-NEWS In 2024, used cars in Russia fell in price by 12 percent. The average price for a used car under the age of 15 has dropped to two million rubles. On average, supported cars have fallen in price by 284 thousand rubles.

Lada Largus lost the most in price — the car costs an average of 966 thousand rubles (minus 14.6 percent). A used Chinese crossover Chery Tiggo 8 Pro can be purchased for 2.25 million rubles (minus 12.6 percent). A similar fate befell the Exeed TXL (fell by 12 percent to 2.81 million rubles), Haval F7 (minus 11.2 percent and 1.91 million rubles) and Chery Tiggo 4 (minus 10.8 percent and 1.52 million rubles).

At the same time, the average age of a car has increased in 2024. It has increased to almost 9 years, and the mileage has increased to 145 thousand kilometers. Cars from Germany (22 percent), Japan (21 percent) and South Korea (17 percent) are most often sold on the secondary market. Domestic brands account for 13 percent, while Chinese brands account for 3.3 percent.

According to Autostat's forecast, by the end of 2024, the total sales of Chinese cars in Russia will exceed 900 thousand units. The share of Chinese-made machines in the country has increased from 50.1 percent to almost 60 percent over the past year. Experts believe that China's dominance in the Russian car market should not be expected to weaken in the medium term.
