“On Monday, sanctions against the Russian Yandex.Taxi service came into force, which prohibit its activities in Estonia. The corresponding government decree was adopted on March 31, ”the message says.

Prime Minister Kaja Kallas also noted that the ban on the activities of Russian companies in Estonia would help ensure security.

“The ban on Yandex sends a clear signal that companies cooperating with Russian intelligence agencies have no place in Estonia. We also suggested that the European Union impose sanctions against Yandex,” Kallas said.

Estonian ISPs will have to restrict access to Yandex N.V. websites and applications that are related to taxi services. In addition, app stores should limit the ability to download Yandex apps and stop updating apps.

The Estonian government has decided to ban Yandex N.V. from April 11 in the country. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Kaya Kallas, TASS reports with reference to the ERR portal.

“The ban on Yandex sends a clear signal that companies cooperating with the Russian intelligence services have no place in Estonia,” she said.

The Estonian prime minister added that her country had taken the initiative to impose sanctions on the company in the EU.
