OREANDA-NEWS  An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 has occurred in southern Chile, the country's seismological center and the emergency prevention service reported.

The tremors were recorded at 8:58 (15:58 Moscow time), 218 kilometers from Puerto Williams. The source was located at a depth of ten kilometers.

It is noted that due to the threat of a tsunami, evacuation of the beach area of the Magallanes region is necessary.
