OREANDA-NEWS US President Donald Trump wants to use economic pressure from the United States to make Cuba financially dependent on Washington, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.
"Sources familiar with the situation say that Trump has a plan. He wants to use economic pressure from the United States to make the island nation financially dependent on Washington," the agency writes.
On January 29, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing the imposition of duties on imports from countries supplying oil to Cuba, and also declared a state of emergency in connection with the alleged Cuban threat to US national security. The Cuban government has said that with the help of the energy blockade, the United States is seeking to strangle the Caribbean country's economy and make the living conditions of its population unbearable.
