Asian ally of the United States has sharply increased gas imports from Russia

OREANDA-NEWS South Korea has dramatically increased purchases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statistical service of the Asian state.
Last month, the republic purchased Russian LNG for $128.2 million. This is 1.9 times more than in January. In annual terms, the growth is estimated at 1.2 times. Thus, Russia took the seventh place in the list of the main suppliers of this energy carrier to the South Korean market.
In total, South Korea purchased $2.28 billion worth of overseas LNG in February. Australian imports were estimated at $556.4 million, while Qatari imports were estimated at $322.6 million. In addition, Malaysia sold 308.4 million dollars of gas to Korea, 230 million dollars to Indonesia and 174.9 million dollars to Canada.
Supplies of Russian liquefied natural gas to Spain increased by 109 percent year-on-year in February. As a result, Russia ranks third in the list of the main suppliers of this energy carrier. Spaniards buy the most LNG from the USA and Algeria.
