OREANDA-NEWS  Britain has lifted sanctions against the Syrian president for the transitional period, Ahmed al-Sharaa, according to a notice from the British Ministry of Finance.

Previously, al-Sharaa was under restrictions as part of sanctions against the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda* (banned in the Russian Federation).

"The following individuals were removed from the sanctions list and their assets are no longer subject to freezing: Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa," the Finance Ministry said. Sanctions were also lifted against Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab.
