OREANDA-NEWS Europe is not solely responsible for helping Ukraine end the conflict with Russia. Thus, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, responded to the statements of US President Donald Trump, her words are quoted by Politico.
"Europe cannot bear the burden of the war in Ukraine alone. This is especially true when you consider President Trump's promise to end the fighting. It was he who promised to stop the conflict. Therefore, the responsibility for this cannot lie with us," the head of the European Diplomacy noted.
The authors of the material quoted unnamed European officials who believe that Trump's statements about Ukraine "hint at the withdrawal of the United States from the conflict, thereby shifting obligations on the Ukrainian issue to Europe." In response, Callas stressed that "the American side should be in solidarity with the North Atlantic Alliance," since Washington is the largest ally in NATO.
On September 23, the head of the White House said that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is ready not only to return its territories, but potentially "to go even further."
