Canada to impose duties on American imports from March 13

OREANDA-NEWS Canada will impose 25 percent tariffs on about $20 billion worth of U.S. imports from March 13, including aluminum, steel and computers, Canadian Finance Minister Dominique Leblanc said on Wednesday.
"Today I am announcing that the Government of Canada, following a dollar-for-dollar approach, will impose 25% retaliatory duties on an additional 29.8 billion Canadian dollars of imports from the United States starting at midnight tomorrow, March 13, 2025. This includes steel products worth 12.6 billion and aluminum products worth 3 billion, as well as additional imported goods from the United States worth 14.2 billion," he told reporters.
He noted that on Thursday, a delegation from Canada will meet with American counterparts in Washington to negotiate the settlement of trade disputes.
