OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan hopes that the UN will take up the investigation into the death of former Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi and all those responsible will be brought to justice. With these words, the politician spoke at a press conference in Istanbul on Thursday, the Turkish News Agency reports. "I believe that the UN will include in the agenda an investigation into the suspicious death of Mursi and bring all the perpetrators to justice", said Erdogan. He noted that Turkey will do everything possible to consider the case of Mursi in accordance with international law.

The politician compared the death of Mursi with the murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last October, Jamal Hashadji, and noted that Ankara will make every effort to investigate the case of the former head of Egypt, as happened in the case of Hashadzhi. "We will never allow the tragedy of Mursi to be forgotten, as is the case with the murder of Jamal Hashkaji", the Turkish president concluded.

Earlier, Erdogan said that Mursi died not a natural death, but “was killed,” because he wasn't provided with timely medical assistance. He noted that Turkey intends to put on the agenda at the next G-20 summit the issue of the death of the ex-president. The Turkish leader promised "to do everything that is required to call the Egyptian authorities to account at the international tribunal".

Ankara supported Mursi and his administration. Turkey considers anti-constitutional the overthrow of his regime by the current government of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Former Egyptian President, 67-year-old Mohammed Mursi, who was removed from power in 2015 and has since acted as a defendant in a number of processes related to espionage, terrorism, and treason, died last Monday during the espionage trial. According to preliminary data, Mursi’s death was caused by a heart attack.
