OREANDA-NEWS The Crimean safari park "Taigan" has been operating stably since the lion attacked its owner, there is no panic, said Tatyana Aleksagina, a representative of the zoo.
On June 22, the Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the owner of the Taigan, Oleg Zubkov, had suffered multiple injuries as a result of a lion attack, and an inspection was underway. Zubkov underwent surgery at the regional hospital, then transferred to the Nikolai Semashko Republican Clinical Hospital, and then to the Krasnodar clinic for further treatment. According to doctors, his neck muscles are damaged. The victim's condition is assessed as serious but stable. According to the representative of the zoo, Zubkov regained consciousness and can already speak weakly, but so far he mainly communicates in writing. The lion was provoked by the sharp sound of the door closing. According to the Investigative Committee, the attack became possible due to gross violations of safety regulations by employees, and a criminal case has been opened.
"All the workers are in the park, everything is in its place. There is no panic in the park. Everything is stable and everything is fine. The park is open to the public," Aleksagina said in an official video statement.
The representative of the safari park stressed that the organization's staff had rallied even more in such difficult moments and was waiting for Zubkov's return.
"Everyone knows their responsibilities, and everyone has received additional briefings," Aleksagina said.
The zoo representative added that during Zubkov's absence, his wife Oksana took over the management of the park.
