OREANDA-NEWS  Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation, discussed the lack of direct flights between the two countries in Japan. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

They explained to Shvydk that, according to the recommendations of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), when operating flights through the airspace of the Russian Federation, airlines are forced to pay large insurance payments. "But this is actually not the case, I think, because Chinese companies fly, and they have no less strict rules, and they also comply with international regulations in this area. But this is a topic that would solve a lot," he added.

Earlier it was reported that trips to Japan will become more expensive for Russians due to an increase in fuel charges for local airlines from June. According to forecasts, ticket prices may double.
