It is known that the diplomats also reviewed the discussions in the UN Security Council on the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"The ministers discussed in detail the development of the situation around the new conflict in the Middle East, the efforts being made by a number of states to de—escalate tensions," the message says.

Earlier, Lavrov offered assistance in resolving the conflict in the Middle East. During a conversation with the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf countries, he said that Russia was calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East.
