OREANDA-NEWS  German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has condemned the words of US President Donald Trump about the inaction of NATO allies in Afghanistan. His words are reported by Bild.

"We will not allow this mission, which we have undertaken also in the interests of our ally, the United States of America, to be despised and vilified today," Merz said.

According to the Chancellor, one should not "lightly jeopardize established alliances." In this way, he reacted to the words of the American leader that the troops of the US NATO ally countries who fought in Afghanistan avoided the front line.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized this statement, calling the words of the American leader an insult.
