OREANDA-NEWS Moldova's agro-industrial sector will not survive without Russia, the leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), former President Igor Dodon, said on Friday at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.
"The agro-industrial sector of the Republic of Moldova cannot survive without the Russian market," Dodon said.
"The statements of the Moldovan authorities that they are moving to other alternative markets show that the European Union market cannot assimilate volumes. If we supplied 200-250 thousand tons of apples, of which 95% (accounted for) Russia, then only 24 thousand went to Europe during this period," Dodon stressed.
He noted that the price of mineral fertilizers in the republic has increased 5-6 times. "The Moldovan agrarian could not survive in these conditions," the politician concluded.
