OREANDA-NEWS  The extradition of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was not discussed during the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, according to TASS.

"No, it was not discussed," the Kremlin representative replied to the relevant question.

Earlier, the Kremlin hosted talks between the presidents of Russia and Syria. Al-Sharaa thanked Putin for Moscow's participation in stabilizing the situation in the country. He also noted that Russia plays an important role in this process.

In September 2025, a court in Syria issued an arrest warrant for former President Bashar al-Assad. They want to arrest him on charges related to the suppression of protests in the province of Deraa in 2011.
