OREANDA-NEWS Italian Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the League party Matteo Salvini discussed with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban the "suicidal" EU policy and the fight against illegal migration, Salvini's press service reported.

Orban arrived in the Apennines for an audience with Pope Leo XIV and a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Talks with Salvini took place on Tuesday at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, which is headed by the leader of the League.

"Issues of peace, harsh criticism of the Green Deal, the EU project, and the suicidal policy of the European Union were discussed. They fully agreed on the issue of combating illegal migration," Salvini's representatives said. At the ministry, he showed Orban a mock-up of a bridge across the Strait of Messina, inviting him to begin construction.
