OREANDA-NEWS  During the talks in Paris, Syria and Israel reached an agreement on the creation of a mechanism for ongoing coordination on intelligence sharing and military de-escalation, the US State Department reports.

"Both sides have decided to establish a joint mechanism, a special communications cell, to facilitate immediate and ongoing coordination on intelligence sharing, military de-escalation, diplomatic engagement, and commercial opportunities under the supervision of the United States," the press release said.

It is noted that the mechanism will "serve as a platform for the prompt resolution of any disputes and the prevention of misunderstandings."

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the United States highly appreciates the positive steps and supports the implementation of these agreements "as part of broader efforts to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East."
