OREANDA-NEWS German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl expressed the opinion that the UN is not outdated, according to him, the order established after the Second World War on the basis of the UN Charter ensures the reliability of international agreements.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that only one structure makes binding decisions and can authorize the use of force, and that is the UN Security Council. The corresponding statement was made against the background of the formation of the "Peace Council" for the reconstruction and management of the Gaza Strip, which is criticized, among other things, for trying to replace the UN.
"Current events in no way mean that the United Nations is outdated. On the contrary, agreements alone are not enough to ensure that the cease-fire does not become a respite to prepare for new wars. Agreements must be reliable," Vadefulh said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
