OREANDA-NEWS In the United States, there remains a large number of aviation components ordered and paid for by Russia, which are necessary for the maintenance of civil aviation aircraft, but are being withheld due to sanctions. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov in an interview with Izvestia.
According to him, the total cost of spare parts is about 500 million dollars, and Russian airlines are interested in receiving them. In addition, Moscow would like to recognize the repairs of Airbus and Boeing aircraft carried out by its own forces after 2022.
Alikhanov explained that if relations between Russia and the United States improve, companies with a service license could certify the work as part of the negotiations. Currently, such actions are not allowed. The minister did not specify which repairs were carried out and which details were "stuck".
According to Andrey Patrakov, founder of the flight safety and certification service RunAvia, individual parts and systems cannot be repaired independently in Russia. This includes avionics components such as the Aircraft Collision Warning System (TCAS). It is produced and maintained by the American Honeywell.
