OREANDA-NEWS The US Air Force has deployed three squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagles fighter jets capable of striking unearthly targets at the Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan, Air and Space Forces Magazine reported.
Last Sunday, the last squadron of F-15Es consisting of 12 aircraft was sent from Lakenheath Air Base in the UK to Jordan, accompanied by KC-135 Stratotanker tanker aircraft. According to the latest data, an aviation group of about 36 such fighters is currently concentrated in Jordan.
Over the past two days, more than ten C-17 Globemaster III heavy military transport aircraft have also flown from England to Jordan, delivering supplies to support them.
The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM), which oversees American forces in the region, has confirmed the arrival of fighter jets in the Middle East. "The presence of the F-15 increases combat readiness and contributes to regional security and stability," the command noted on the social network X.
The publication recalls that the Pentagon had previously temporarily evacuated some aircraft and personnel from the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest US base in the Middle East, where CENTCOM's regional headquarters is located. In June last year, during the US operation to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran retaliated by firing missiles at this base.
