OREANDA-NEWS  US President Donald Trump has said that Ukraine will receive "a lot of land" as part of the conflict settlement. He stated this on the air of the Fox News channel.

At the same time, the American leader stressed that annexation of Crimea and membership in NATO are impossible for Kiev, summing up that "both of these points are impossible." The head of state did not specify what exactly was meant by territories.

Trump also added that he had always considered Ukraine to be a buffer between Russia and Europe. In addition, he pointed out that the leaders of the European Union (EU) understand the need for Kiev to cede territory to Russia. He also stressed that back in the years of the Soviet Union, Moscow was right when it indicated that it did not want to see NATO forces at its borders.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that European leaders had been able to change US President Donald Trump's position on resolving the conflict in Ukraine since his return to the White House. According to Macron, the main change in Trump's position was that he realized the need to provide Ukraine with security guarantees. The French leader said that this was made possible largely due to the unity of European countries supporting Kiev.
