OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian military refused to contact the United States over the Marinera tanker. This was stated in an interview with Fox News by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who revealed the details of the special operation.

"We intercepted a Russian cargo ship that reached [the North Atlantic]. They had Russian ships there that guarded it — it was a submarine and a destroyer. They decided not to contact us, and we took this vessel," the head of state said.

He declined to answer a question about whether he had been in contact with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin after the seizure of Marinera.

On January 7, the US military and Coast Guard seized the Marinera ship, which was sailing under the Russian flag. The Russian authorities said that the tanker had a temporary permit to sail under the flag of the country. It is known that there were two Russians on board.
