OREANDA-NEWS The Turkish side expects that the pause that has arisen in the negotiation track on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine will not last long, Ankara is ready to organize them at any time at the request of the parties, a source in the Turkish government told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Ankara was ready to once again provide a platform for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
"We proceed from the fact that the current pause in the negotiation process will not be prolonged and the parties remain interested in continuing the dialogue," the source said.
"Turkey, as before, is ready to provide a platform and all necessary conditions for negotiations, if requested by the parties," he stressed.
"We are in contact and closely monitoring the development of the situation, hoping for the resumption of diplomatic efforts in the near future," the source added.
As a Turkish diplomatic source previously told RIA Novosti, Ankara continues contacts with Moscow and Kiev as part of mediation to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and the window of opportunity for the negotiation process remains.
Russia and Ukraine previously held three rounds of direct talks in Istanbul. The result was a prisoner exchange. In addition, Russia handed over the bodies of dead Ukrainian servicemen to the Kiev regime. The parties also exchanged draft memoranda on conflict resolution.
