OREANDA-NEWSThe Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has denied information from the Brazilian magazine Placar that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that all international tournaments be canceled before the end of 2021. This was reported to RBC in the press service of UEFA.

"It's not true. WHO has never recommended UEFA to stop holding football matches until the end of 2021”, the press service said.

According to Placar, WHO advised UEFA to resume holding international tournaments no earlier than 2022 last week during a video conference. According to the publication, along with UEFA, representatives of leading European clubs took part in this conference. WHO motivated its recommendation by the risk of a new wave of proliferation of COVID-19 in 2021.

It's reported that during the discussion the parties did not come to a consensus on the calendar of football tournaments. However, it does not specify which tournaments were referred to by the WHO recommendation - with the participation of clubs or at the level of national teams.
