OREANDA-NEWS. The Metropolitan District of Columbia court granted the motion of the US prosecutor to terminate the proceedings against the Russian company Concord Management and Consulting, which is credited with interfering in the 2016 US presidential election. This is stated in the document received on Monday in the electronic database of the instance.

"The request of the authorities is granted", the resolution says. The matter concerns the removal of charges against Concord Management and Consulting and Concord Catering, which were jointly referred to as “Concord defendants”. The case “was terminated forever without the right to be returned to court”.

The US prosecutor’s office asked the court to terminate the process because the authorities concluded that “further proceedings in the case of Concord, a Russian company that does not have a presence in the United States and cannot be effectively punished in the event of a guilty verdict, do not serve the interests of justice, nor to the interests of national security".

The prosecution, in particular, feared that the continuation of the proceedings could lead to a "risk of disclosing the means and methods of work of law enforcement agencies".
