OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2009. Ashgabat hosts International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on development of strategic industry of national economy.

The Turkmen capital is the centre of attraction of the world business community. The 2nd International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on the Basic Trends in the Development of Power Industry in Turkmenistan organized jointly by the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Academy of Sciences and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan are held at the Exposition Centre.

This year, the traditional energy forum at the largest exhibition centre in the region presents over 110 colourfully decorated pavilions and stands that vividly demonstrate the key fields of the activity of the state enterprises and private companies from Turkmenistan and numerous foreign companies.

The exhibition opening ceremony brought together the cabinet ministers, the high-ranking officials of the Mejlis and the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, the representatives of public organisations, scientists and journalists. 

The welcoming statement addressed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants of the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on the Basic Trends in the Development of Power Industry in Turkmenistan was presented at the ceremony. Congratulating participants on the opening of the forum, the Turkmen leader defined the key priorities of Turkmenistan’s energy policy aimed at increasing energy exports to world markets along the most optimal routes. “Today, the overwhelming wealth of the Turkmen depths – energy resources serve the interests of the people, contribute to improving the standards of living of every citizen,” the Turkmen leader noted.

Noting that the new meeting in the Turkmen land, on the one hand, would allow presenting the large-scale achievements and the priority trends in the development of the sector and , on the other hand, discussing the issues of collaboration and the ways to establish close mutually advantageous partnership in this field, the President of Turkmenistan expressed belief that the international forum would offer a new incentive to develop constructive cooperation on the implementation of Turkmenistan’s profound energy potential.

The departments of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan showcase the potential of Turkmenistan’s energy industry that has considerably increased in recent years. Turkmenenergo State Power Corporation, Turkmenmasingurlusik Concern, Asgabadenergo Production Association, Turkmenenergoremont specialized production association, Turkmenkabel state enterprise, Turkmenenergoproyekt Institute present the models, samples of products and booklets. The Turkmen private enterprises and firms producing street lighting equipment, assembling electric motors of various types and performing electrical works present their potential.

Nowadays, Turkmenistan’s huge energy and economic potential as well as the successful policy of wide international cooperation attracts more foreign companies and firms willing to establish mutually beneficial partnership with Turkmen enterprises. Increasing interest of the international community in Turkmenistan is proved by the participation of 52 foreign companies from 18 countries worldwide including Japan, the United States, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Turkey, Iran, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Belarus in the international exhibition and conference.

Many of them, in particular General Electrics (US), Calyk Energy, ENEX (Belgium), Zeppelin (Germany), are Turkmenistan’s old dependable partners that implemented dozens of the large-scale projects in our country. The forum participants represent the leading companies that view the dynamically developing Turkmen energy market as very promising to expand joint business activity, apply advanced technologies and equipment and develop service industries.

The pavilions and stands of the foreign companies present numerous samples of state-of-the-art electrical equipment, materials, technological innovations and special literature. The visitors can see the latest modifications of transformers, compressors, lighting equipment, switchboards and safety systems. There are the stands with the projects on reconstruction of the power plants and all-inclusive service of power and energy facilities.

An exposition of machines and vehicles that have replenished the fleet of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan in recent years is arranged in the territory adjacent to the Exhibition Centre.

The scientific conference started its work in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre. The agenda included the important issues of the development of power industry and establishment of mutually beneficial international cooperation. The leading Turkmen and foreign scientists, power engineers and the specialists of dozens of the world-renowned companies exchanged views on the approaches to intensifying cooperation through using the vast opportunities provided nowadays in Turkmenistan that successfully pursued the new energy policy in the epoch of new Revival. Those speaking noted that this prudent and effective strategy made the Turkmen market more attractive through creating the favourable investment climate, the measures taken by of the Government of Turkmenistan to modernize the industry and adopt advanced technologies and state-of-art equipment in the priority sectors of the national economy.

The specialists of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan, the State Concerns made presentations on the key trends in the development of power industry for the period till 2020 for foreign delegates. The prospects for cooperation on the development of global energy infrastructure, in which Turkmenistan played a more significant role with every passing year, were reviewed. Furthermore, the discussions focused on the specific trends and forms of collaboration of Turkmen power engineers with the foreign companies including the implementation of the projects on construction and modernization of power plants, procurement of power equipment and application of advanced technologies.

The reports presented at the conference allowed defining and specifying the most promising fields of partnership based on the partners’ intention to use the existing potential in mutual interests and in compliance with Turkmenistan’s development priorities.
