Russian President Held Meeting on Transport Security
OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev critised security at major transport hubs stating that measures to ensure safety are unsatisfactory as a whole, even without considering the recent terrorist attack. The President demanded tighter security measures and control over compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Dmitry Medvedev instructed Prosecutor General Yury Chaika to carry out full security checks at all transport facilities as regards their compliance with applicable laws, and ordered Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev to "shake up" the entire transport police. The President also instructed the Government to draft transport security proposals in two weeks.
