OREANDA-NEWS Large retail may refuse to participate in the Fast Payment System (SBP) - a project of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation - due to high acquiring fees, the Vedomosti newspaper reported on Thursday. As conceived by the Central Bank, in the future the SBP will allow to pay for goods and services using a QR code.

According to the newspaper, the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT) and Internet Commerce (ACIT) sent a letter to the Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina expressing dissatisfaction with the tariff corridor of 0.2-0.7%. Associations believe that banks will offer acquiring services at the upper border of the corridor, exceeding the existing rates for large businesses. Retail prices are considered to be 0.3-0.4% as optimal prices, otherwise "no one will use the system and it will die before it was born," say ACIT.

In addition, the associations claim that it is retail that will be responsible for the deployment of the Fast Payment System.

In banks, the established corridor is also unhappy. According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, such tariffs are below cost and discourage interest in the further development of the service of fast payments.

The system of fast payments was launched in pilot mode on January 28, 2019, on an industrial scale - on February 28. The system allows for a phone number to transfer funds between accounts in different banks. In the future we plan to add the payment function in retail outlets by the QR code and other features.
