OREANDA-NEWS Belarus and Russia will increase contributions to the budget of the Union State by 38% in 2024, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly (upper house of Parliament) of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said.

"Next year, the share contributions to the budget of the Union State have been increased by 38%. (...) The total budget will amount to more than 6.5 billion Russian rubles," Andreichenko said at the opening of an expanded meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, which is being held in Pskov on Monday. (Quoted by the state agency BelTA).

Andreichenko noted that the contributions of Belarus and Russia to the general budget have remained unchanged since 2009. At the same time, they decreased by 10% in 2021. "This was largely due to a decrease in the number of programs and projects implemented at the expense of the budget. Currently, thanks to the joint efforts of the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly and the standing Committee, the situation has begun to change," he said.

According to him, the preparation of four new programs and three projects of the Union State is in the final stage. At the same time, Andreichenko appealed to the Standing Committee and the Secretary of State of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev with a request to include these programs in the budget of the Union State for 2024. "I hope that the positive trend will continue in the future and the number of funded programs, projects, activities will grow along with the growth of its (the budget of the Union State - IF) revenue part," he said.

The budget of the Union State for 2023 was approved at the end of December last year with a surplus of 899 million Russian rubles, budget expenditures should amount to 5 billion 67 million rubles, revenues - 5 billion 966 million rubles, including deductions from the budgets of Belarus and Russia - 4 billion 458.6 million Russian rubles (of which 2 billion 898.3 million rubles - deductions of Russia and 1 billion 560.3 million rubles - deductions of Belarus).
