OREANDA-NEWS The share of the yuan in Russia's trade settlements with third countries with the exception of China increased to 25 percent in the first half of 2023. This is reported by RBC with reference to data from the Ministry of Economic Development.

At the same time, the main currency of export settlements is the ruble. "Its share has more than tripled this year and exceeded 40 percent," the ministry noted. The Ministry of Economic Development stressed that Russia pays in its national currency with counterparties of both friendly and unfriendly countries.

The authorities also revealed the cumulative share of the ruble and the currencies of friendly countries in Russia's international settlements. In July 2023, it reached 72 percent in Russian exports (compared with 15 percent at the beginning of 2022), and in imports it increased to 69 percent (33 percent at the beginning of last year). The Ministry of Economic Development expects further growth of these indicators.
