OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, the average cost of a CTP policy has plummeted. Last January, it amounted to 4,617 rubles, which is almost one and a half times less than in the same period of 2025 (6,906 rubles). This was reported to the Prime agency by Nikolay Galushin, head of the National Insurance Information System (NSIS).
The expert explained this trend by a significant increase in the share of short-term policies sold for up to three months. In January 2026, it increased to 40.3 percent, and last year this figure was only 8.5 percent. The average cost of a short-term policy does not exceed 200 rubles, Galushin noted.
"The average CTP premium without short policies in January 2025 is 7583 rubles, and in January 2026 it is 7614 rubles," the head of the NSIS emphasized.
According to the expert, the popularity of short-term CTP policies will only grow, and this has nothing to do with taxi drivers' refusal to purchase annual insurance. He suggested that the sharp increase in the share of short-term policies is due to motorists who previously drove vehicles without insurance or did not declare the use of a car in a taxi.
Earlier, Alexander Burmeister, president of the Baikal League of Ice Captains, named the real causes of the tragedy with Chinese tourists that happened on Lake Baikal.
