OREANDA-NEWS The Italian agency Autorita' Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM, the country's antimonopoly regulator) fined American Apple Inc. 98.6 million euros for violating antitrust rules in the field of mobile applications.
According to the regulator, the company violated European legislation when building relationships with third-party app developers for the App Store, where Apple occupies an "absolutely dominant position."
Apple, in his opinion, took advantage of this situation and forced developers to require special permission from users to collect data under the App Tracking Transparency policy.
"The terms of the ATT policy are imposed unilaterally and infringe on the interests of Apple's partners," the Italian regulator said in a statement.
